ForestrySA manages two Joint Venture hardwood plantation programs in the Green Triangle Region, both growing bluegums to produce woodchips which will be exported through the Port of Portland to Japan to produce high quality paper.
The first is the Green Triangle Treefarm Project where ForestrySA provides management expertise to private bluegum growers and the Joint Venturers provide a marketing agreement for the purchase of the wood by the end of the rotation. The price offered is based on the distance from Portland and indexed to the Tasmanian Old Growth Export Wood Chip Price.
The second program is the Portland Treefarm Project. This program consists of 1600ha of AFS certified bluegums in SW Victoria. The land and trees are owned by the Joint Venturers with ForestrySA's main role including site management, and development and maintenance of the Forest Management System.
