About ForestrySAForestrySA manages the state owned plantation resource. This primarily consists of Pinus radiata in the Green Triangle Region, the Mount Lofty Ranges and the Mid North Regions. The Head Office for ForestrySA is located in Mount Gambier. ForestrySA produces logs which are manufactured into a range of products including sawn timber, pulp and paper, veneer and posts. We also provide community and recreational facilities within the forests, and manage native forest areas for conservation. South Australia was the first to develop and commercialise Radiata pine plantations and was the earliest commercial manufacturer of Radiata pine-based paper and particleboard. ForestrySA is responsible for the management of approximately 70,000 hectares of State owned plantation in the Green Triangle and 14,500 hectares in the Mount Lofty Ranges and Mid North regions. Our annual planting program is maintained at about 2,500 hectares per annum. We are committed to the responsible and sound environmental management of plantations and native forests. ForestrySA maintains a Forest Management System which is certified to the internationally recognised ISO 14001, 9001 and Australian Forestry Standard (AFS).
