ForestrySA School Photography Competition: AUSTimber People’s Choice Award Winners Announced

In November last year ForestrySA held a school photography competition for primary and secondary school students across the Limestone Coast. The judges were looking for photographs that captured all facets of our local forest industry from the trees in the forest to the final wood products.

Spinal Whorl II awarded top prize in sculpture competition

A striking modern wooden sculpture entitled “Spinal Whorl II” has been named the winner of “Transformations”, ForestrySA’s Wood Sculpture Competition 2012. The competition and its accompanying exhibition sought to showcase contemporary art practices that employed wood as the dominant medium.

In 2004 the Riddoch Art Gallery launched its first wood sculpture competition, with ForestrySA becoming the major sponsor. Four exhibitions later and ForestrySA is still proud to be the sponsor of this event. The exhibition promotes the beauty and uses of wood, and assists in the cultural development of one of Australia’s most significant timber producing areas, the South East of South Australia.
