FOREST OPERATIONS MANAGER - GREEN TRIANGLE
ForestrySA requires an experienced and dedicated Forest Manager to assume operational management of ForestrySA's native forest and firefighting responsibilities in the Green Triangle region. The appointee will also contribute to and support the commercial forestry operations in the Mount Lofty Ranges region.
This is a permanent, full-time position based in Mount Gambier and reports to the Manager Forest and Conservation and Recreation.

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES - MOUNT LOFTY RANGES
Commencing in October, ForestrySA requires
to engage additional crew personnel for a five to six month period to perform essential
forest maintenance, establishment and fire standby and protection duties which includes prescribed and fuel reduction burns.
The work is performed under physically
testing conditions and can involve extended work schedules to cover after
hours, weekends and public holiday requirements.
There are two categories of employment:
- Temporary crew personnel: Required to work a
minimum of 37.5 hours per week.
- Casual crew members: Required mainly for
after hours, weekend and public holidays to support the temporary and full-time
The positions will be located at the
ForestrySA Mount Crawford or Kuitpo depots however successful applicants must
be willing to work from either depot.
All successful applicants are required to
hold and maintain a current class "C" driver’s license (manual) for the period
of employment and must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment medical and fitness
examination which includes drug and alcohol screening, and a National Police check.
Ideally we seek applicants with previous
firefighting experience with the CFS or similar organisation and MR/HR; 4WD;
Chainsaw ticket; first aid training and experience.

The majority of the time, seasonal
staff will undertake a variety of field based and manual works, including:
- Fire break and track clearing, chainsaw / pole saw.
- Facilities maintenance.
- Vehicle maintenance.
- General silvicultural duties.
- Training - task and fire related.
will form part of ForestrySA Fire Crew Roster which will run throughout the
season and vary due to local weather conditions. At times you may be required
to be on-call at home depending on the local fire danger. Your employment with
ForestrySA whether it be temporary or casual will include the above tasks as
- Firefighting, local and possible intra-state deployment and may require the incumbent to be away from home for extended periods.
- Fire standby and patrol weekdays / weekend / public holidays and after hours.
- Prescribed burning and forest residue reduction burns.
